September 7 - 14, 2018
Join us for a week of wandering the farmers markets, exploring ancient sites and visiting local producers of the wine, olive oil and cheese for which this region is famous. Our home for the week is a recently modernized three story stone house, a former bakery, in the medieval town of Uzès. The house's location in the heart of town allows easy access to its many cobbled streets, a wide selection of restaurants in the Place des Herbs and shopping for locally produced art and artisan goods.
We will take day trips to the Pont du Gard, Nîmes, Arles and Avignon. One day is set aside to experience the meaning of “terroir” as we stop to visit local producers of wine, olive oil and creamy goat cheeses. We will taste and cook with these products back at the house.
Madelaine will lead two informal cooking classes in the Uzès kitchen using fresh ingredients purchased at the market. We will also tour the covered market in Avignon and spend the day cooking in the classic 19th century kitchen in La Mirande Hotel behind the Palais des Papes.
Act now to join next September's Provence Odyssey with Chez Madelaine in Uzès. Space is limited to 6 persons, double occupancy. Visit the Itinerary page for detailed account of daily activities.
